Experiment with combining scrap silver and copper into alloys of Shibuichi and Shakudo. Form these materials into pendant forms known as spiculums. They are hand fabricated by forming a sheet of silver into a hollow, tapered spear shape. It has a soft twist, giving it a sense of movement. Learn to patina metal as well in this hands-on class.

HAROLD O’CONNOR has been a Goldsmith and teacher for over 40 years and was educated in the United States, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Austria and Mexico,. He is the author of The Jeweler’s Bench Reference and The Flexible Shaft Machine –Jewelry Techniques. He has facilitated over 200 workshops in 14 countries including Portugal, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Canadian Arctic and Peru. His works are in collections including the Goldsmith’s Hall, London; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
