Use the potter’s wheel to make cups, mugs, bowls, vases & much more. If you’ve never used a potter’s wheel before, you’ll learn the skills needed to make pottery. If you’re a returning student, we’ll focus on improving your skills.
Instructor -- Laura Korch
Laura Korch received her B.F.A. from Eastern Michigan University in Ceramics. Prior to that she obtained a scholarship to work alongside a potter in Germany for a year. In 2006 she completed a year-long apprenticeship with John Glick. Afterwards she worked as the Ceramics Studio Manager for the Ann Arbor Art Factory in Michigan. Later Laura was awarded a work-study scholarship to Penland School of Crafts. She has been an Instructor at the Art Factory in Ann Arbor Michigan, the Pullen Arts Center in Raleigh, and has taught for the Durham Arts Council, and Claymakers since 2008. She’s been a guest presenter for the Triangle Potters Guild, and recently Clayworks Guild in Durham. She is the owner of Trout Ceramics and operates a home studio in Durham, NC. Laura’s work has been shown in many galleries in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area in Michigan. Also in Pittsboro, Raleigh, Carrboro, and Durham, NC.
