Learn metalsmithing and stonesetting skills while creating individual projects. This class focuses on jewelry and small object design (such as spoons, decorative home wares, etc) and construction. Lessons include sawing, filing, forming, joining and finishing metal. In the first class we will discuss materials and how to order your metals. Students may choose to work in copper, bronze or silver. Metal costs based on fluctuating stock prices and may run $25 and up.
Instructor -- Pat Falbo
PAT FALBO (BA, English Literature, Carlow College) is an accomplished artist who has worked in a variety of media. A former toymaker who was known for her intricate and whimsical wooden toys, she began her career in silversmithing and jewelry design nearly two decades ago. Organic designs inspired by nature with clean modern lines are Pat's trademark style. In addition to PCA, Pat teaches at Sweetwater Center for the Arts and leads private classes in her studio. Pat is a member of the Craftsmen's Guild of Pittsburgh. Locally, you can find Pat's jewelry at Patricia Boutique in Aspinwall, and the shops within Sweetwater Center for the Arts and Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.
