Lymphedema Management for Breast Cancer

This one-time class covers what is lymphedema, prevention, and treatment. Taught by a physical therapist from Salem Hospital's Rehabilitation Center.
  • The class features former patients who discuss lymphedema from the patients' perspective.

Instructor -- Christine Frank PT, CLT-LANA
Chris graduated from Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy. She worked in Illinois and Indiana in many settings, including geriatric rehabilitation, outpatient and acute care.

Chris spent 18 years in Germany but returned each summer and worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic.

In Europe, Chris completed a lymphedema course and was certified as a complete decongestive therapist (CDT) at the Foeldi Clinic in Hinterzarten, Germany.

Chris enjoys traveling and hopes to see much more of the world.

Things you need to know:

Pre-registration is required for most Salem Hospital classes. We sometimes have to cancel classes because there aren't enough people registered. Please don't wait until the last minute to register - you may find the class has been cancelled!

Assistance - Do you, or anyone who may be coming with you, need any special arrangements? (Examples: language interpreter, hearing assistance, mobility issues).  Please let us know when you register for the class, and at least 24 hours in advance so we can make arrangements for you. Bad weather - We generally follow the Salem-Keizer School District. If Salem-Keizer Schools close due to weather, most likely any CHEC classes that day will be canceled. If you're not sure, please call 503-814-2432 to find out. But no matter what, if you don't feel safe driving, please stay home: we'd rather have you miss a class than risk hazardous roads and sidewalks!

Cancellation - If Salem Health cancels a class, a full refund or a class transfer will be issued.

Withdrawal - If you notify us at least 7 days before the start of a class or session that you can't attend, we will give you a full refund.

Medical Refund - A full refund will be issued if an illness or injury causes you to miss a class or part of a class. A note from your physician may be needed to get a medical refund.

Refund checks will be mailed, which takes about 3 weeks. Cash refunds are not available.
