This class is an opportunity to practice comfort measures for labor, have some time with a childbirth educator to ask questions, and be with other expectant parents.

Who should attend:
• If you have already taken a childbirth class with your first baby and want to refresh your memory.
• If you attended the weekend childbirth class and would like more practice.
• If you took the online childbirth class and would like to meet with an educator and practice breathing, relaxation techniques, and have a labor rehearsal with comfort measures.

$20 per couple. Optional tour of the Family Birth Center offered at 6 p.m.
  • NOTE: There is no fee to take this class if you have taken the online childbirth classes or weekend childbirth class and would like more labor rehearsal but you will not be able to register online - call the CHEC at 503-814-2432 and we will register you for no fee over the phone.

The Community Health Education Center (CHEC) informs and empowers patients, families, community members and hospital staff by providing accurate health information and connecting them to appropriate hospital and community services and programs.

The Salem Hospital Foundation raised 4.1 million to create the Community Health Education Center (CHEC). Over 1,200 Foundation partners, neighbors and friends made gifts that helped turn the dream of the CHEC into a reality.

Things you need to know:

Pre-registration is required for most Salem Hospital classes. We sometimes have to cancel classes because there aren't enough people registered. Please don't wait until the last minute to register - you may find the class has been cancelled!

Bad weather - We generally follow the Salem-Keizer School District. If Salem-Keizer Schools close due to weather, most likely any CHEC classes that day will be canceled. If you're not sure, please call 503-814-2432 to find out. But no matter what, if you don't feel safe driving, please stay home: we'd rather have you miss a class than risk hazardous roads and sidewalks!

Cancellation - If Salem Health cancels a class, a full refund or a class transfer will be issued.

Withdrawal - If you notify us at least 7 days before the start of a class or session that you can't attend, we will give you a full refund.

Medical Refund - A full refund will be issued if an illness or injury causes you to miss a class or part of a class. A note from your physician may be needed to get a medical refund.

Refund checks will be mailed, which takes about 3 weeks. Cash refunds are not available.
