In this half-day workshop, you’ll do 3 different art projects. Learn how to use alcohol inks to create beautiful glass ornaments. Create your very own ocean inspired resin painting and a ceramic spoon rest. International award-winning artist and certified color therapist Ivy Stevens-Gupta will show you how to use various mediums and techniques to design colorful art. You will learn how to use ArtResin to create colorful abstract paintings. Participants will learn how to prep artwork surface, mix epoxy with hardener, spread resin over art, eliminate bubbles using a torch, and protect their work until it cures. Find out what safety gear you need while using resin. Learn how to add glitter, mica & additives to resin. Ivy will discuss common epoxy resin mistakes and how to correct them. Here is what you can expect:

 

·        Participants will decorate 2 different glass holiday ornaments using alcohol inks and paint to give as gifts or keep for themselves.

·        Create one 5” x 5” abstract ocean & beach scene painting on a cradled wood panel using colored resin.

·        Mix resin colors together to design a ceramic spoon rest – complete with adhesive corkboard bottom (provided).

·        ALL SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED. No need to spend hundreds of dollars on art materials you may never use again.

·        Gain confidence using resin tools and a blow torch/heat gun.

·        Learn proper resin mixing ratios and timing, what supplies you’ll need, how to protect your artwork while it dries (cures) and how to avoid puckers, dents, bubbles, and flaws.

Ivy Teaches: Painting & Mixed Media Workshops

Ivy Stevens-Gupta is an internationally acclaimed contemporary artist from Ithaca, NY, USA. She is a lecturer in color theory, marketing consultant, instructor, art columnist, and certified color therapist. Her artistic journey began with studies at Alfred University, followed by a degree in Business from SUNY CCC, a BS in Marketing, and an MS in Liberal Studies with a media focus from Empire State University. Ivy holds certificates in Interior Design and Art Therapy Life Coaching.

With a rich professional background, Ivy served as the Advertising Manager for Gannett Newspaper Division for 16 years and later as the Corporate Relations Director for the SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University. Her artistic footprint extends globally, with exhibitions in Hong Kong, Germany, Italy, and Canada. Ivy's paintings, featured in international contemporary art books, have garnered global recognition and sales.

As a recipient of the 2023 NYSCA grant, Ivy is the visionary behind "Somewhere WAY Over the Rainbow," a multisensory STEAM installation. In 2020, she created a fabric made with acrylic paint that she shapes into sculptural paintings. Actively involved in the artistic community, she is a member of the Elmira Art Society, GNSI Finger Lakes Chapter of Scientific Illustrators, and the Greater Ithaca Art Trail. Ivy shares her expertise as part of the faculty at 171 Cedar Arts Center in Corning, NY, and contributes as a columnist for What's Hot Magazine.
