Have fun and make art! Students in this class will have the opportunity to explore mixed media materials in new ways. Art Makers with 171’s instructor, Kate Buzzell, meets once a week for an hour. Students further their skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, and manipulating art materials. They are encouraged to create art that is an expression of themselves.

Kate (Heiman) Buzzell is a mixed-media contemporary sculptor, ceramicist, jewelry designer, and 171 Cedar Arts Center’s gallery assistant. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Concentration in Ceramics. After college, Kate moved to Los Angeles where she put her sculpting and design skills toward creating unique music videos before going to Atlanta and working in the Atlanta film industry as a sculptor and set decorator. She enjoys using mixed media to combine realism and abstraction to demonstrate the relationship between the beauty of our world and our imaginations.
