Hand-building methods will be explored each week in this introductory course for students with little or no ceramics experience with 171 ceramics instructor, Kate Buzzell. Students will learn about coil techniques, pinch pots, and rolling slabs in a no-pressure, all-fun atmosphere! Kids will make work inspired by their imaginations and go home with colorful pieces to enjoy for years to come.
All clay, supplies, and kiln firings are included in the cost of the class.

Kate Teaches: Art, Ceramics, Summer Camps, and Outreach Programs
Kate (Heiman) Buzzell is a mixed-media contemporary sculptor, ceramicist, jewelry designer, and 171 Cedar Arts Center’s gallery assistant. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Concentration in Ceramics. After college, Kate moved to Los Angeles where she put her sculpting and design skills toward creating unique music videos before going to Atlanta and working in the Atlanta film industry as a sculptor and set decorator. She enjoys using mixed media to combine realism and abstraction to demonstrate the relationship between the beauty of our world and our imaginations.
