Have you ever wanted to try ceramics handbuilding? Come try it out in this 2-hour workshop with 171 ceramics instructor, Kate Buzzell. You will learn the basics of making clay gift tags or tree ornaments using the sgraffito carving technique for decoration. You will make a piece that will be glazed and fired. Kate Teaches: Art, Ceramics, Summer Camps, and Outreach Programs
Kate (Heiman) Buzzell is a mixed-media contemporary sculptor, ceramicist, jewelry designer, and 171 Cedar Arts Center’s gallery assistant. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Concentration in Ceramics. After college, Kate moved to Los Angeles where she put her sculpting and design skills toward creating unique music videos before going to Atlanta and working in the Atlanta film industry as a sculptor and set decorator. She enjoys using mixed media to combine realism and abstraction to demonstrate the relationship between the beauty of our world and our imaginations.
