Mary Brink
Mary Brink Bio
Mary Brink was born and raised in Elmira Heights. She graduated from Cazenovia College and followed a path that led her into the corporate world. As it did for many, the 2020 pandemic thrust Mary into a journey of deep self-reflection. Though Mary enjoyed her work at Corning Inc. in Training and Development, she knew she was looking for more joy and needed a change. After a hard look at her life and reevaluating what brought her true happiness, Mary traded in her corporate job for more time with her camera—choosing to embrace what she loves most—capturing beauty in the natural world.
As a self-taught photographer, Mary can be spotted crouching with her camera next to a river, deep in a forest, or on a chair near her beautiful garden. She is always looking for the beauty in the ordinary. She passionately searches for fun little bugs, that bright red leaf, and even the long dead flower with amazing composition. She sees the world through her camera lens constantly looking for interesting textures, fabulous colors, and the intricate play of light and shadow.
Most of all, Mary loves to capture wildlife. She will spend hours waiting for the perfect shot of the owl in flight, red fox kits playing, or even the mischievous chipmunk. The Chemung River holds a special place in her artist’s heart. Mary carries her love for capturing the beauty of our planet into macro and family portraits set in nature as well.
Naturally, Mary loves to hike and spend time with her fabulous husband Michael, two adult daughters, and “almost” three granddaughters. She resides in Big Flats where she is also learning to watercolor and is known for her “to die for” homemade banana cream pie.
