Beginning and continuing students are welcome to explore both hand-building and wheel-throwing projects with Kate Buzzell. The class will refresh students with demos on the basics of centering, shaping, trimming, and glazing. Handbuilding students can expect to cover coils, and slabs, as well as scratch and slip methods. With individualized attention, student projects will vary based on experience and interest.
This class comes with an optional 12 hours of free lab time.

Kate Buzzell
Kate Teaches: Art, Ceramics, Summer Camps, and Outreach Programs
Kate (Heiman) Buzzell is a mixed-media contemporary sculptor, ceramicist, jewelry designer, and 171 Cedar Arts Center’s gallery assistant. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Concentration in Ceramics. After college, Kate moved to Los Angeles where she put her sculpting and design skills toward creating unique music videos before going to Atlanta and working in the Atlanta film industry as a sculptor and set decorator. She enjoys using mixed media to combine realism and abstraction to demonstrate the relationship between the beauty of our world and our imaginations.
