Join instructors Beth Hesch & Laurel Shaut to learn the beginning fundamentals of ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance. Students will gain flexibility, basic technique, and self-confidence through repetitive motor skill, coordination, and rhythm practice. Improvisation will also allow students to test their own creativity.

Attire: Form-fitting dance wear such as a leotard and footless tights or a dance tank top with dance pants/leggings/dance shorts. Bring any dance shoes you have (ballet, tap, jazz) and we will help you borrow what you may need!

Shaut, Laurel
Laurel Shaut

Laurel Shaut began her ballet journey studying under Ms. Wendy at the age of four before continuing on to join 171 Cedar Arts Center. Throughout her years of dancing, Laurel has participated in Patty Ozer’s Story Ballets since 2015 and has choreographed two award winning competition dances with her fellow 171 Cedar Arts dancers. When she isn’t dancing, Laurel enjoys fostering her creative spirit by painting, drawing, ceramics, playing guitar, and sewing projects such as costumes for the Story Ballets. Laurel is very honored to be a part of the 171 Cedar Arts Center family and is proud to assist in fulfilling their mission of supporting the arts to the Corning community.
