Emphasis is on alignment and centering. Each class begins with exercises at the barre where basic positions and vocabulary are practiced and mastered. The class proceeds to center floor work where the dancer executes more difficult patterns in dance training.
Attire: Leotard, fitted t-shirt, tights, dance skirt, leggings, ballet slippers.
Laurel Shaut
Laurel Shaut began her ballet journey studying under Ms. Wendy at the age of four before continuing on to join 171 Cedar Arts Center. Throughout her years of dancing, Laurel has participated in Patty Ozer’s Story Ballets since 2015 and has choreographed two award winning competition dances with her fellow 171 Cedar Arts dancers. When she isn’t dancing, Laurel enjoys fostering her creative spirit by painting, drawing, ceramics, playing guitar, and sewing projects such as costumes for the Story Ballets. Laurel is very honored to be a part of the 171 Cedar Arts Center family and is proud to assist in fulfilling their mission of supporting the arts to the Corning community.
