Modern Dance is a form that encompasses traditional ballet technique as well as an expanded movement vocabulary for the torso and limbs. Improvisational and compositional skills are developed to encourage creativity and expression. Classes integrate various traditional disciplines of modern dance foundations with current contemporary styles. These classes are for dancers who like physical complicated floor work, patterns of movement and self-expression.
Attire: Form-fitting dance wear such as a leotard and footless tights or a dance tank top with dance pants/leggings/dance shorts. Bare feet.

I’m thrilled to be returning to 171 Cedar Arts Center, where my dance journey first began.
Born and raised in Corning, New York, I grew up dancing at 171 before earning my Bachelor of Arts in Dance in 2016. Since 2016, I worked for the Walt Disney World company and have had the privilege of teaching dancers of all ages while continuing to expand my own training and performance career. My professional experience includes performing and training with Colorado Dance Collective, working with members of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, and Lehrer Dance and traveling and performing with Illuminations Dance Company.
Returning to 171 as a teacher is truly a full-circle moment, and I’m excited to share the knowledge, creativity, and passion for dance that I’ve gained over the years with the next generation of dancers.
