This course is designed to encourage participants to have fun exploring and experimenting with photography. Each session will begin by illustrating a topic through viewing the work of photographers from the past to the present.
The assignment at the conclusion of the first session, Abstractions, will be to produce and submit two to three abstract photographs. Subsequent session subjects will be: Snow and Ice, Objects and Shapes, Windows and Reflections, and Doorways and Doors. The final session will address post image manipulations.
Each week, the assignment will involve one or more of the techniques that were discussed. Two days prior to each session, participants will email two or three digital images to the session leader. During class, we will project the results of everyone’s work and discuss how the assignment was achieved. Selection criteria and editing will be discussed.
We will review various methods for sizing, reproducing, and displaying photographs. The session leader will email readings prior to each session and post them on Google Drive.
This course will combine lecture with class discussions.
