Comedy Highlights in Standup and Sitcoms (Zoom)

This course will highlight some of the great stand-up comedians and comedy teams through the ages and in current times. It will also show how a number of those talented people took their comedic personalities into movies, radio and tv situation comedies for viewers to endlessly watch, laugh, and quote.

Stars like Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, Rosanne Barr, Ray Romano, Keven James, and Robin Williams will be just a few of those comedians featured. We will also highlight TV Sitcoms like Seinfeld, Rosanne, and Mork and Mindy.

The class will also feature situation comedies like Cheers, which starred actors new to comedy but still had the talent to make viewers at home laugh out loud. Classes will include viewing YouTube videos and other media.

Abe Vorensky

Abe Vorensky possesses a lifelong love and depth of comedy knowledge, specifically its diverse history. This love began when Abe worked as an MC in a Catskill mountain hotel where he sang, told jokes, and introduced other entertainers. Through the years, Abe has remained an enthusiastic humor and comedy historian, focusing on how comedy has played a role in our personal, social, and political thought.
