Apocalypse Now: The Book of Revelation and Its Influence on U.S. Politics (In-Person)

This is an eight-week course that will delve into the biblical Book of Revelation. We will analyze this apocalyptic New Testament book academically to seek to understand its meaning within its historical context. We will also consider its real life, real time influence on contemporary American culture and politics.

Each session of this course will include lecture and lively discussions on these sober, intriguing and perhaps even hair-raising topics.

Philip Tierney

Phil Tierney has been an ordained Episcopal priest for just under 50 years. He holds degrees in Biblical Studies, Divinity, Philosophy and Theology, and a doctorate in pastoral psychotherapy. He has served in ministry at churches in Massachusetts, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Dr. Tierney has served as a college chaplain at Georgetown and VA Tech, the Foxcroft and Madeira schools and has been rector of five parishes and has taught at Virginia Seminary. Now retired, he’s involved in volunteer activities.
