Great Music That Gives Us Hope and Inspiration (In-Person)
Fall (9 - 13 hours) | This course is completed
The 19th century brought us four masterworks with themes of hope, inspiration, and reconciliation that still resonate today in our time of tumult and division. Over six weeks we will listen to and discuss segments of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and Ninth Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Berlioz’s Romeo & Juliette. Each of these works contains heart-stirring and sweeping emotional moments which lift the human spirit, and perhaps gives us hope for that ever elusive quest for peace on earth.
This course will consist of discussions between the Study Leader and participants.
