Creative Photography 3: Inspiration From Nature (In-Person)

Fall (9 - 13 hours) | Available (Membership Required)

During these class sessions, participants will explore nature, not as scientists, but as visual seekers, looking at the wide range of colors, shapes, and patterns that can be captured as abstract photographs. In abstract photography, the composition and unique perspectives are more relevant visually than the actual subject matter. Nature provides a wealth of material and inspiration for taking interesting and creative photographs.

Each week, an assignment will employ one or more of the techniques that were discussed. Participants may use cell phones or digital cameras to record images. Each person will email three or four images to the session leader two days prior to class. In class, we will see a PowerPoint presentation of the results and discuss how the assignment was achieved.

The assignments will be:

mosses, lichen, and fungi;

rock and boulders;

trees, bark and leaves;

water shapes and reflections;

skies and clouds.

We have the technology to take multiple photographs with no additional costs, so we will talk about criteria for editing and methods for display.

This course will combine Powerpoint with class discussions. No previous experience is necessary.

  • NO CLASS - Oct. 4
  • There are no required books for this course.
