Great "Russian" Writers Who are Ukrainian - Zoom (UMass Boston course share)

Writers, such as Isaak Babel, Mikhail Bulgakov, Chekhov, and Gogol have been widely known as Russian. They are in fact Ukrainian. In this class, we will read short stories and excerpts of longer works by these and other authors, with a particular look at their brand of humor.

Monica Hileman
Monica Hileman is a writer of literary fiction. Her stories have appeared in journals such as Arts & Letters, The Baffler, the Chicago Tribune’s Printers Row Journal, and Catamaran Literary Reader. Originally from the Chicago area, she holds an MFA from the University of North Carolina and lives just north of Boston.
