On Location (Or Not?) (In-Person)
Winter (14+ hours) | Registration opens 12/3/2024 12:00 AM EST
This film class will present six classic movies that were all filmed on location. Perhaps. The idea for anyone wishing to take this course is to not research the films but watch them and observe the craftsmanship in which they were made and determine if they were filmed on location, in a studio, on a ‘Hollywood Set’ or a mix of all of these.
The films that will be presented are The French Connection; The Departed; My Darling Clementine; Munich; The Taking of Pelham 123; and Serpico. Aside from Pelham, all the films are based upon real events or real people. These films bring up issues that are still relevant today.
I have spaced the films so that we can discuss the longer ones in the next class. The actors in all the films are great and far too numerous to mention, however they range from the likes of Henry Fonda to Jack Nicolson with wonderful female performances as well. Come along for the ride.
This in-person course will combine lecture with class discussions.
