Creative Photography: Structures and Streets (In-person)
Spring (9 - 13 hours) | Available (Membership Required)
In this class, we will explore the man-made environment. Assignments will focus on capturing shadows, light, reflections, and patterns from doors, windows, stairs, and details of buildings and other structures as abstract photographs. Emphasis will be on composition and unique perspectives rather than the actual subject matter.
Our everyday environment provides a wealth of material and inspiration for taking interesting and creative photographs. Each week’s assignment will address a specific topic. Participants may use cell phones or digital cameras to record images. Each person will email three or four images to the Study Leader two days prior to class sessions. During class sessions, participants will view PowerPoint presentations of the results and discuss the techniques that were most successful.
The assignments for the first session will be photographs of barns and outbuildings. Participants will receive the email and instructions prior to each session. Other assignments are:
- restaurants and stores
- public buildings
- streets, alleys and pathways
- and for the last session, participants choice.
We will discuss criteria for editing and will explore methods for displaying prints.
