The Art of Aging Gracefully: Stress & Seven Resources for Resilience (In-person)

Spring (14 hrs or more) | Available (Membership Required)

In today’s world, self-care is daunting. We aren’t taught how to take care of ourselves in school. We prioritize critical thinking (e.g. reading, writing, arithmetic) at the expense of critical feeling (listening to our body and developing healthful habits). The result: a crisis of wellbeing, where lifespan is increasing but healthspan is declining.

In this course, we’ll examine human biology to take heart in a simple truth: Healing is what your body does best, when it has the right resources. And these resources aren’t mysterious things – they’re air, water, food, movement, rest, a safe environment, and positive peers. In other words, Seven Resources for Resilience. We’ll also consider Stress – a concept commonly misunderstood and misinterpreted.

By studying Stress and the Seven Resource for Resilience, we’ll explore the underlying mechanisms of change within the human body and consider how physical, mental, and emotional aspects of your being are, in fact, all neurobiological – therefore, within your control!

This course will empower you through a comprehensive educational experience in mindful embodiment, teaching you how to practice self-care and take ownership of your wellness.

This course will combine lecture with class discussions.

NOTE: Zoom only on April 21 and 28; no class on May 26.

  • There are no required books for this course.
