Fulfillment or Betrayal: Transitioning From a Democracy With Christians to a Christian Nation (In-person)

Fall (14 hours or more) | Registration opens 7/29/2025 12:00 AM EDT

It isn’t news to anyone that America has been engaged in something of a cultural conflict. And it’s hard to miss that a critical mass of Americans have come to be disillusioned with democracy. This has only intensified with the increasing heterogeneity and decreasing religious affiliation of the population, specifically in the percentage of Americans who self-identify as Christians. That disillusionment has bred public support for dramatic changes in government institutions, policies, and programs that are profoundly affecting the structures of American society from medical care to education to immigration to law enforcement and more.

This course will examine the roots and goals of two political/religious worldviews in order to understand them and ways they are seeking to make America in the image they believe are best for the nation and its people. “Fulfillment or Betrayal” will explore the historical origins of this conflict of worldviews, the central issues involved, the tactics utilized, and the mission, vision, and goals being pursued. We will seek to find strategic resolution to the unfolding predicament, following a lecture format with plenty of opportunity for discussion.
