Fall (2-3 hours) | Registration opens 7/29/2025 12:00 AM EDT
Idioms are the spice of life! Idioms are words or phrases that have a different meaning than the literal meaning of the words. The stories behind many idioms are funny, fascinating, and just downright weird. Food expressions are especially colorful and descriptive. Some food word origins are wonderfully quirky and are based on historical events, legends, important figures, and habits.
Many English idioms are so unusual that it is impossible to guess where on earth they originated from—unless you know the history. They are not only fun to use but are sure to get your point across creatively in conversation. We’ll explore the origins of some of the most interesting food idioms and taste some of your favorites!
This course will be presented in a lecture format.
