Energy Alternatives: Climate Change and Prosperity (HyFlex: In-person)
Fall (4-8 hours) | Registration opens 7/29/2025 12:00 AM EDT
This is the in-person attendance option for this course!
Are you concerned about the effects of climate change on people and our physical world? Do you wonder how much of what you hear is research-based and how much is opinion or even wishful thinking? Do you feel alone or that many others share your concerns? Are you looking for comprehensive answers when there don’t seem to be many? The goal of this course is to increase your confidence in understanding the pros and cons of various energy alternatives.
We will consider the impacts of energy decisions on both the climate and the overall human condition via economic growth and prosperity, including less developed countries. The Study Leader will attempt to bring forth the best possible information sources, including original data sources, peer-reviewed research, and video clips. This information is expected to initiate a lively and respectful discussion, which will be encouraged throughout the course. Course members will be on a journey together to learn more about the many facets and challenges of energy production, distribution, and consumption.
This course will combine lecture with class discussions.
