Inside White River Indie Fest 2026 (HyFlex: Zoom)

Winter (9 - 13.5 hours) | Registration opens 11/24/2025 12:00 AM EDT

This is the Zoom registration option for this course.

White River Indie Films (WRIF) was started in 2004 by a group of Upper Valley filmmakers and film lovers who believed in the power of good storytelling to bring people together and catalyze social change. Hosting an annual film festival of new global and local cinema curated by volunteers, WRIF grew to include year-round screening events, mixed media public art, and opportunities for emerging filmmakers.

In 2022, WRIF became a program of JAM – Junction Arts & Media. This Osher course offers participants the opportunity to discover the inner workings of WRIF, including how and why films are selected, WRIF’s place in the larger history of film and filmmaking in the Upper Valley, and the state of film festivals in the evolving media landscape. Guest speakers will include WRIF founders, volunteers, emerging filmmakers, and current staff.

Scheduled for the lead-up to WRIF 2026 (March 1-8, 2026), this course will continue during the festival with opportunities for post-screening discussions. A discount code for festival passes will be offered to course participants.

This course will combine lecture with class discussions.

NOTE: The final date of this course will be determined based on the Festival schedule, but it will take place during the Festival.
