Creative Photography: Imagination and the Ordinary (In-person)
Winter (9 - 13.5 hours) | Registration opens 11/24/2025 12:00 AM EST
This course, Creative Photography: Imagination and the Ordinary, is structured to challenge participants to go beyond mundane photographs of objects or scenery, by choosing different approaches. One can explore unusual composition and special effects through arrangement of the objects, choice of viewpoint and lighting, or by camera, cell phone, or computer manipulation.
Session members will find some inspiration for discovering new methods by reviewing in class photographs that have been taken by well-known photographers. Class members will get weekly assignments, “prompts,” for photographs to be submitted to the session leader via email. Photographs will be projected on the classroom screen, and discussions will review the interesting qualities, viewpoints, and composition of each one.
This course will combine lecture with class discussions.
NOTE: There may be a materials fee for printing and mounting of photos.
- There are no required books for this course.
