Get ready for an afternoon of soul, swagger, and serious Dublin attitude with a screening of The Commitments (1991). This beloved musical comedy follows a group of working-class teens who decide to form a soul band, and end up discovering the power (and chaos) of music, ambition, and community. It’s funny, loud, heartfelt, and packed with unforgettable performances.
Enjoy popcorn and drinks during the screening, then stick around for a post-film discussion led by Tom Urgo, who will dig into the movie’s music, themes, and cultural impact. Whether you’re seeing it for the first time or revisiting a favorite, this is a perfect chance to watch, listen, and talk soul.
All who wish to join Tom Urgo after the movie at Three Tomatoes for dinner. Please let us know by email so we can give the restaurant an estimated headcount for dinner.
