This class includes kayak instruction on the Connecticut River: life jackets and paddles will be provided along with a variety of boats. Instruction includes basic boating safety, beginner and intermediate kayaking skills on land and on water, fun paddling and adventure, and optional advanced skills, including performing rescues. Participants must have taken a beginner course with Bonna Wieler or be pre-approved by conversation with her.

We will additionally discuss some watershed concepts regarding the Connecticut River.

There are optional reading materials that the Study Leader will send to you on request. There will also be a $110 fee (payable to the instructor) in addition to the course fee, which will cover insurance and kayak rentals/assistance.

Bonna Wieler guides learners/explorers of all ages, making connection with the natural world and the arts. She aims to help folks gain self-assurance and skills. As an American Canoe Association Essentials Kayak Instructor, Bonna is a trip leader with summer camps and Bold Paths, a river curriculum teacher and consultant.

Cindy Heath has 30 years of experience in outdoor recreation/adventure administration and programming.
