Session 1: Tuesday, April 17, 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM
Session 2: Tuesday, April 24, 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Session 3: Wednesday, May 2, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Session 4: Tuesday, May 8, 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM

We will go behind the scenes of the many arts venues in Lebanon, NH, meeting managers, directors, and others to learn more about the offerings located here. We will visit with the Upper Valley Music Center, Opera North, the AVA Gallery, Lebanon Opera House, City Center Ballet, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and have a talk with Susan Apel, AKA ‘Artful Edge’, who reviews and writes about all Upper Valley arts in The Daily UV.

The days and times of our classes vary (see schedule, below). At one session we will have lunch at Three Tomatoes, where Clifford West’s murals and art works embellish the walls. His widow, Bente Torjusen, prior Executive Director of the AVA Gallery, will join us. Three Tomatoes is offering us a 10% discount on our bill.

This class will include some walking, especially at DHMC, but they have wheel chairs available if needed.

  • There are no required reading packets or textbooks for this course.

Sylvia Paxton left work for prisoner rights behind and came to the Upper Valley where she celebrates the art scene and how it has enriched her retirement.

Barbara is an inveterate, oversubscribed volunteer and traveler who can imagine living somewhere other than the Upper Valley, where arts, and OSHER@Dartmouth educational and volunteer opportunities abound. But she doesn’t want to!
