Summer is the perfect time to gather and share ideas about the books we’re reading. Similar to the format of last summer’s book group, we will meet on alternate weeks to discuss four brief works of fiction. This summer’s books will include God’s Kingdom by Howard Frank Mosher, Kazuo Ishiguru’s Remains of the Day, In the Lake of the Woods by Tim O’Brien, and Paulette Jiles’ News of the World. From the story of a boy growing up in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom to the unlikely journey of two lonely survivors finding their way across the Texas landscape our readings will introduce us to fascinating, sometimes puzzling people and their unforgettable stories. With some gentle guidance from the study leader, our classes will be open discussions, a free exchange of ideas as we explore these extraordinary works of fiction.

  • God’s Kingdom (978-1250096364) by Howard Frank Mosher
  • Remains of the Day (978-0679731726) by Kazuo Ishiguru
