This class includes kayak instruction on the Connecticut River, with boats, for all abilities and comfort levels, life jackets and paddles provided. Instruction includes basic boating safety, kayaking skills on land and on water, fun paddling, and optional advanced skills. We will discuss watershed concepts, landscape and history of the Connecticut River.

  • There will be reading materials for this course. There will also be a $75 fee (payable to the instructor) in addition to the course fee, which will cover insurance and kayak rental.

Bonna Wieler guides learners/explorers of all ages, making connection with the natural world and the arts. She aims to help folks gain self-assurance and skills. As an American Canoe Association Essentials Kayak Instructor, Bonna is a trip leader with summer camps and Bold Paths, a river curriculum teacher and consultant.

Cindy Heath has 30 years of experience in outdoor recreation/adventure administration and programming. She has led bicycling, hiking, kayaking and skiing trips for all ages in New Hampshire and Vermont, and is certified in Advanced First Aid. Cindy’s personal outdoor adventures include paddling in Canada’s Gaspe Peninsula, walking the Pilgrim’s Way in France, bicycling, skiing, and backpacking in the Pacific Northwest, Southwest, and throughout New England and the Adirondacks. Cindy has hiked New Hampshire’s 4,000 footers, and is now completing them in the winter.
