Moby Pearson (violinist, ensemble coach, conductor) invites you to listen to and discuss a vast swath of musical treats from his record collection and perhaps pick up a few things along the way.

Week 1 - Spellbinding musical moments: an examination of exquisite and exhilarating excerpts from Mozart to Mahler

Week 2 - There’s always time for more Beatles!: This time we’ll take a look at newly restored video and also hearing recent remixes of Sgt. Pepper and the Hollywood Bowl concerts.

Week 3 - String Quartets: We will trace the history of this important form, so influential that even Verdi and Puccini had to get into the act!

Week 4 - Smorgasbord: A variety of works that will include choral sections of Bach’s passions, string sextets, women composers, and Beethoven’s Fidelio.

Week 5 - Requests: Participants’ choice.

  • There are no required texts.
