We all have a story to tell, but we don’t always have people ready to listen. When life gets busy, younger generations sometimes miss out on the stories we would like to share. Memories Matter is a memoir-writing course designed to record memories to be left behind for loved ones. The memories can be anything, from a simple list of ideas and events, to a full length memoir.

Class time will be used to write and share. The format of this course is straightforward. In a supportive, compassionate setting, writers will read their work aloud while others follow the reading with photocopies. Class members will then critique the work on the basis of form, content, and technique. The goal of the class will be to gain skills and confidence to continue working on the project after the class has finished.

  • There is an optional reading packet.
