This eight-week, interactive course will focus on the work of several modern or contemporary American short-story writers (Raymond Carver, Flannery O’Connor, Richard Ford, Jhumpa Lahiri, Stephen King and others), with an eye to the similarities and differences among the stories and what makes each successful (or not), keeping in mind that there is no right or wrong answer to such questions.

We each bring a different sensibility to the stories we read; through a sharing of these, we hope to arrive at a higher appreciation of the writers’ work.
