Despite incredibly overwhelming odds, the Resistance in France during World War II slowly gathered steam over the course of four years. Often heroic, sometime suicidal, at times opportunistic, the French resistance to Nazi occupation grew from a fledgling and disorganized movement into an Allied-financed and well-organized army of liberation that may or may not have contributed to the liberation of France and the victory of the Western Allies in Europe. There were heroes and heroines, traitors and collaborators, all dealing with an implacable and monstrous Nazi war machine.

Through lectures, videos, slides, and Q&A, we will examine the growth, complexities, internal conflicts, and legacy of the French Resistance.
