The debt ceiling was established by Congress in 1917 and for over one hundred years has often paralyzed our government threatening shutdowns, defaults and general chaos which could not only impact our entire economy but, according to many, the stability of the entire world.
Denmark is the only other country in the world with a similar law on its books. How did this happen and what, if anything , can we do to get out from under this continuing cycle of cacophony and crisis in our world of partisan politics?
