Smiles of a Summer Night OR How to Gain Back a Lost Summer
Winter (14+ hours) | This course is completed
We will, cinematically, make up for our recent lost summer by spending time on lakes, islands, and in forests, as well as drawing in mystery, romance, fantasy, celebration, sense of wonder, psychological drama, and a kooky love trap, by screening six films from the list below, depending on availability. Even if you have seen some of these films previously, remember, Hitchcock said that we have to see a film at least three times to fully appreciate and understand it. Join us this winter without the perils of traveling.
Possible films to be screened:
1. Cast Away (2000) Tom Hanks
2. Into the Woods (2014) Meryl Streep
3. Life of Pi (2012) Dir. Ang Lee
4. Smiles of a Summer Night (1955) Dir. I. Bergman
5. On Golden Pond (1981) Katherine Hepburn/Henry Fonda
6. Casino Royale (2006) Daniel Craig as Bond
7. Romance on the High Seas (1948) Doris Day (in pastel satiny gowns)
8. A Bigger Splash (2015) Tilda Swinton on Italian island of Pantellaria
