The musical theater, popular songs and standards of the 20th century include enduring classics that still warm hearts and evoke nostalgia. In this course, Broadway and the Great American Songbook will be enjoyed, using live performance demonstrations and recorded examples. From Irving Berlin to Richard Rodgers, many rich examples from the Great American Songbook will be included in the presentation. Compositional style, vocal technique, and the external influences of the era will also be discussed. The course promises to be both informational and entertaining.
