Machine Sewing Basics

Students will learn the basic techniques of machine and hand sewing. Hemming, measuring and fabric selection will be explored as well as proper sewing tools to create a finished look. Project choices are a table runner, envelope pillow, apron and zippered pouch. This class is suitable for new sewists and those who may need a sewing refresher. Machines will be provided although students are welcome to bring their own. Supplies are not required for the first class. A material list will be given once students decide on their projects. Please note: no class 11/3.

CLAUDIA MATHISON holds a BS in Art Education from Kutztown University and teaches a wide variety of youth classes at Guilford Art Center, Wesleyan Potters, Arts For Learning CT, Lymes Youth Service Bureau and at schools and libraries throughout CT.
