This course is designed to help students increase their pottery skills whether they are beginning, intermediate or advanced students. Both wheel and handbuilding techniques are taught. Students may work in both or focus on one.  Surface treatments including colored clay slips, underglazes and glazes will be covered.  Instruction is delivered through both teacher demonstrations and individual help to students. Critiques provided to students upon request.

  • Tuition includes bench time for students enrolled in classes; it does not include workshops. Clay must be purchased in class tool kits  also available. Please bring cash or check. Lab and clay fees cover costs of firings and glaze materials.

ALICE CHITTENDEN holds a BFA degree from the University of Hartford and a MALS from Wesleyan University. She has studied at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, The Penland School of Crafts and Alfred University. She maintains her own studio and for the past five years has participated in the Shoreline Arts Trail. Her work is in the collection of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, Jingdezhen, China and private collections in the UK, Australia and the US. She exhibits throughout Connecticut
