Students will create a 10-12 inch khukuri knife using the hidden tang construction based heavily off the southern Asian knife of the same name. Each blade will be fully functional by the end of the course, and any additional details are up to the discretion of the students. All basic bladesmithing processes will be addressed including forging, grinding, heat treat, fitting, and sharpening. Each step will include detailed demonstrations by the instructor.  Students will need safety glasses, dust mask or respirator, leather work gloves, (welding gauntlets not needed) and should wear jeans, a non-flammable cotton shirt and/or jacket, and closed-toed boots or leather shoes. Our forge is an outdoor building that is only semi-enclosed; please dress accordingly.
