Gilded Frame & Encaustic Painting Workshop
Adult Workshop | This class is completed
How a painting is presented can make all the difference, especially for small works. Think about the possibilities when conceiving and creating frame and painting together. In this class we will construct a beautiful frame that will accommodate a painted or collaged Encaustic piece of artwork. First, we will construct and embellish a frame from very simple materials. Our basic construction techniques will be masked by layers of iridescent Encaustic paint that will mimic old world gilding effects. There will be a reserved area to accommodate a small painting. Then we will use encaustic painting and collage techniques to make a piece that we can pop right into our frame creating a beautifully finished piece of art. Really stretch your skills with materials. This is a simple process that can be brought right back to your studio. No carpentry skills required. All levels welcome.
Materials to bring: Students do not need to bring anything but may bring collage materials like fabrics and images on thin paper.
