Clay For Tweens & Teens

In this tween and teen clay art class students will learn the hand building methods of pinch, coil and slab. These versatile methods can be used singly or in combination. Students will also utilize decorative surface techniques such as carving, stamping and adding clay embellishments. Using the potter’s wheel will also be taught. Glazing will enable students to add color and a smooth surface to their work. There will be class projects as well as time for students to pursue their own ideas.

Alice Chittenden
ALICE CHITTENDEN holds a BFA degree from the University of Hartford and a MALS from Wesleyan University. She has studied at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, The Penland School of Crafts and Alfred University. She maintains her own studio and for the past five years has participated in the Shoreline Arts Trail. Her work is in the collection of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, Jingdezhen, China and private collections in the UK, Australia and the US. She exhibits throughout Connecticut
