Silver Metal Clay II Workshop

In this new one day workshop students will take designing pendants to the next level and learn techniques for forming and firing silver metal clay over supports for a three dimensional look. Techniques demonstrated will include doming, stacking and draping. Techniques for forming and attaching pendant bales will be demonstrated and used in the making a three dimensional pendant. Focus will also be on perfecting dry finishing the metal clay pendants before firing. Flush stone setting can be used. Depending on size and design, students will be able to finish and take home one or two unique silver pendants. Prerequisite: at least one other metal clay class.A materials fee* of approx. $110 includes sufficient metal clay, tools, supplies and handouts to complete class project, and is payable to the instructor at class. *Materials fee is subject to change with the metals market.
Student Supply List for Metal Clay II:
1. Texturing materials such as: bottle caps, tube caps, fresh leaves, coarse fabric remnants, screening (plastic- not aluminum), tree bark, comb, nuts and bolts, small cookie cutters, other metal clay texturing tools you can purchase online.
2. Magnifiers if needed for close-up work
3. Safety glasses and dust mask
4. Blow dryer- if you have one at home to bring it will be helpful.
Please bring your lunch to save valuable working time. The use of face masks during class is strongly suggested.
Nancy Karpel
Nancy Karpel holds a BS from Albertus Magnus College, and PMC Guild Teacher's Certification. She has taught jewelry making at schools and art centers throughout her 46 years as a professional jewelry artist. Nancy has been published and her work exhibited extensively. Her work has been featured in several books on the subject of Precious Metal Clay. She sells her work through her New Haven, CT studio, N.
