Take a Look Through a Picture Book 8/18-22 Week 9

Created with lots of fun in mind, this class will introduce the art of the picture book through the work of a variety of world-renowned picture book writers/artists such as Eric Carle, Faith Ringold, Tomie dePaola, Maurice Sendak, Mo Willems and more. New books/authors will be introduced each day as students engage in mixed media projects inspired by the themes, characters and images found in these literary wonders.
- Reduced tuition on youth classes requires a family membership. For a full-day program, a morning class may be combined with an afternoon class. Supervised "bridge" care is available for these students, between 12-1PM, for an additional $40 per week.
Renee Soares
holds a BA from Brown University in English and Theatre Arts. She is a visual artist who works with polymer clay, glass beads, textiles, and mixed media to create unique, one of a kind, beaded clay masks. Her work has been exhibited at fine art galleries throughout New England and can be found in many public venues and private collections. She has taught creative workshops for the City of Hartford’s Department of Cultural Affairs, the Wadsworth Atheneum, the CT Historical Society, the New Britain Museum of American Art, Milford Public Schools and is presently a visiting teaching artist at Oddfellows Theater in Middletown.
