Using paper pulp masks as a base, add paper and mixed-media collage materials to create a custom mask to wear for Halloween or hang on display. Students can add color and dimension by drawing, painting, and by cutting and assembling various colored and textured papers, photos, text, images, and printed ephemera. Masks can be further embellished with paint, markers, crayons, pencils, stamps, thread, fabric, lace, ribbon, and 3D objects. Paper cutting, curling, and layering techniques, plus adhesive and sealing methods will be demonstrated. Teacher will provide a guide suggesting various themes, characters, and approaches to consider. All materials and tools will be provided, but students may bring photos or other meaningful items to incorporate into their projects. Parents welcome to attend, must register individually.
