Jewelry II - Intermediate Metalsmithing

Building on foundational metalsmithing skills developed in Jewelry I, this intermediate
course emphasizes precision, design development, and expanded stone-setting
techniques: advanced bezel, tube, prong, and multi-stone settings. Students will refine
soldering, fabrication, and finishing methods while creating projects such as a multistone ring or pair of earrings. Attention is given to layout accuracy, symmetry, and
craftsmanship, as well as creative problem-solving. Students will demonstrate increased
technical confidence and a more personal design voice in their work.
Students will learn to:
• Refine soldering, fabrication, and finishing skills for complex assemblies
• Execute various stone-setting methods including bezel, prong, tube, and multi-stone techniques
• Design and fabricate multi-component jewelry such as a ring or earrings
• Strengthen understanding of design principles and project planning
• Demonstrate intermediate craftsmanship and creative interpretation in finished work
