Puppets in Live Theatre
Youth and Teen | Registration opens 11/19/2025 8:00 PM EDT
Puppets are often used in live theatre to depict a creature of fantasy or an animal of the wild or a character that is not able to be a live actor. See how puppets can interact with actors and create a story. Build a puppet to help you tell your story. We will begin with design and construction using nontoxic materials including wool felting, wood, repurposed objects and fabrics.
Robin McCahill
Robin is a professional puppeteer and board member of the Connecticut Guild of Puppetry. With a mechanical background, making sculptures that come alive and breathe is magic. We are allowed to suspend reality and connect with our inner child. You may see Robin with large puppets such as a unicorn, phoenix, dragons, owls and other animals at outdoor events connecting with Mother Earth.
Working mainly with felting and finding the attributes of this medium as it connects and changes and becomes something other than it’s origin yet maintains those elements as well is magic.
